July Events
Upcycled T-Shirt Crafts
Monday, July 10 › 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Columbia Public Library, Friends Room
Stop by and make crafts out of t-shirts and fabric yarn. Bring along a favorite t-shirt, and give it new life as a shopping bag, or use one of ours. We'll also have fabric yarn available for a variety of other t-shirt crafts. Danica will be there with extra Gamma Phi Beta shirts if you'd like to use one for the project.
Teens and adults.

How to Run for Office

Columbia Public Library, Friends Room
Thinking of running for local office? Former Columbia City Council member Barbara Hoppe and former Boone County Commissioner Karen Miller will offer guidance and instruction. Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Columbia-Boone County. Refreshments at 6:30 p.m.

The Benefits of Self-Care

Many of us have been conditioned to believe that it is selfish to give time to nurturing ourselves. In this session, we'll discuss the value of giving ourselves the love we need to prosper and, in turn, be better able to aid others. Presented by Doug Bannister, director of the School of Metaphysics.

"The Mindfulness-Based Eating Solution"

Join psychologist Lynn Rossy to learn how to use the practice of mindfulness to increase your enjoyment of food while respecting the health of your body. She will share strategies from her book,"The Mindfulness-Based Eating Solution," that will help you slow down, savor each bite and actually eat less. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Identity Theft and Scams

Identity theft and scams can happen to anyone. Sean Spence from the Better Business Bureau will share tips on how to minimize your risk of becoming a victim and what you can do if a theft or a scam does affect you.

Return to Hogwarts

Columbia Public Library, Friends Room
Join us for an adults-only evening celebrating Harry Potter! This after-hours program will feature book and movie trivia, wizarding refreshments and magical crafts. Costumes encouraged! (No underage wizards, please!)
